Personality[]
Tsu-in is cheerful and childish, fond of teasing, and slacks off from her job once in a while.[1] She heavily dislikes when people are unfair to her; when she feels slighted, she will get uncontrollably angry and reckless, to the point of entering a 'SLEEP' state where she hands control over to her artificial body's automatic processes for boosted power[2]. Tsu-in also has great respect for her superior Isou, who she calls 'Sensei' and tries to impress. She can be callous, seeing Taura's wish for a respectful burial for her brother as a worthless aspiration, where Taura could want to use his body in experiments or try to resurrect him.[3] While she's proud of her strength, she also holds up her promises when she loses a fight[4].
Background[]
Little is known about Tsu-in's background.
Plot[]
Part Four[]
When Taura Twisters infiltrates Shiki Headquarters, Tsu-in confronts her as the head of security[1]. She asks for Taura's motivations, and the woman replies that she wishes to retrieve her brother's body. Tsu-in wonders if Taura planned to use it for tests like Mashiro, and Taura informs her that she wishes to give her brother a proper burial in their hometown. Tsu-in laughs at such a frivolous reason, angering Taura. Tsu-in then proposes a match, promising to tell Taura where her brother's body was if the other won. The lose-condition for Taura is getting caught by the large hands attached to Tsu-in's head. They are of a special design, allowing her to catch anything.[3] Taura is able to circumvent her grip by being possessed by Hell, who, being a ghost, is uniquely skilled at evasion. Instead of outright gripping, Tsu-in decides to start picking up debris around them and throwing them at Hell-possessed Taura as projectiles. Hell retaliates by using his poltergeist abilities to paralyze Tsu-in. Realizing that Hell's nature as a ghost essentially let him and Taura do anything, Tsu-in becomes enraged. Isou tries to calm her down but is unsuccessful, as the communication signals start breaking up due to Hell's influence. Still unable to move, Tsu-in decides to shift her human consciousness into a 'SLEEP' state and let her artificial body start moving automatically. No longer counting as a human, Hell's paralysis technique no longer applies to her and she's free to attack.[2]
Running from a volley of the Air Blasts the artificial body of Tsu-in can now unleash, Hell decides to swap out of Taura's body and instead let Tauro take over. In the brief lull between the body swap, Tsu-in's body registers it has having won the match and reboots to let the human consciousness wake up. She worries over accidentally having killed Taura, as Mashiro had requested she be captured. Tauro emerges in Taura's body to assure her of Taura's survival and gives a short introduction, announcing himself as being a spirit with exceptionally strong hatred.[5] Tsu-in attempts to launch an Air Bazooka at him, but Tauro pierces right through it, a sword pointed right at her face. Even though she is unable to defend herself, Tauro still stops before he makes contact. He notes that Tsu-in wasn't going to kill Taura, so he wasn't going to kill Tsu-in either and they could consider the match his win. Tsu-in begrudgingly accepts her loss but is still upset by it, insisting that she is the stronger one if she really got serious. Tauro assures her that she is strong, citing that it took three of them to defeat her. Tsu-in decides to fulfill her promise and show them where Tauro's body is kept, as long as they keep it a secret from Mashiro. However, before she can do so, she is ripped apart by a newly escaped Jin.[4]
During Jin's attack, which should have been otherwise fatal, Tsu-in is able to put her human consciousness into 'SLEEP' mode and move her life system entirely to her artificial body right before her head is severed. This allows her to be salvaged and keep living as a disembodied head with hands melded to her hair. She's able to converse and move around easily and attends the Shiki dinner party to welcome Taura. Isou has intentions to rebuild her full body but says the materials will take time to gather.[6]
Skills & Abilities[]
Tsu-in is a powerful individual with many unique combat features. Isou notes that she has better combat technique than Hell[2], and Tauro commends her for needing the joint powers of all three (Tauro, Taura, and Hell) to defeat her.[4]
Cyborg Physiology[]
Tsu-in is comprised of half human and half artificial life[2]. If even one side of this system remains functional and she is able to move her life system to that surviving system in time, she can continue to live.[6]
'SLEEP' State[]
By turning off her human consciousness and going to 'sleep', Tsu-in's artificial body will start working automatically. Entering this state makes her life-presence disappear, stops her breathing, and makes her an empty doll that no longer counts as being alive. Her body receives a huge power boost upon entering this state, though it is only reacting on autopilot and is thus hard to control. In this state, her main body turns limp, her eyes become huge and fully black, and the hands on her head become swollen.[2] Her mind only reboots when her goal upon entering this state is completed, and she has no knowledge of what has occurred during that time.[4]
Magic Hands[]
Tsu-in's Magic Hands
Her hair takes on the shape of two hand-like appendages that are far larger than her body and are made of a translucent liquid. She uses them to move around, having them hold onto walls and floors to carry her.[1] The hands are adept at catching things, capable of snatching bullets out of the air and grabbing almost anything, to the point that she calls them 'magic'.[3] They are exceptionally strong, too, capable of gouging pieces of the hallway out to throw at opponents.[2] Possibly more hands sprout out when releasing a volley of attacks, but that may also be an artistic choice to show a lot of movement.
Air Attacks[]
Tsu-in can launch air attacks from the hands on her head. She uses two distinct forms of this attack.
Air Blast 02[]
A shockwave-type attack, released only when in her 'SLEEP' state.[2]
Air Bazooka 02[]
A presumably more concentrated version of this attack, used when conscious.[4]
Relationships[]
Isou[]
She respects Isou and calls him 'Sensei'. She tries to impress him and is quite candid with him when demanding he fix her.[6] Isou gives her commands remotely when watching her fight and tries to talk her down when she becomes incensed, but holds her in the same low regard he has for most other Shiki members. Upon seeing Tsu-in's destroyed body after Jin's attack, he coldly walks away with the remark that he hates messy kids.[7]
Hell[]
Seeing Hell as having an unfair advantage against her due to all his poltergeist abilities, Tsu-in loathes him.[2]
Tauro[]
Tsui-in cares little for Tauro, thinking of a proper burial for his body being a useless idea. As Tsu-in was not going to kill them were she to win, Tauro returns the favor and allows her to live when he has the chance to kill her. Tsu-in is shaken by her loss but agrees to help him, even though she knows it will upset Isou.[4]
Manji[]
Tsu-in has some sort of grudge against Manji, saying that she is different from him specifically, when referring to how she's going to live up to Isou's expectations.[1] She also chides Manji for clinging to Isou, even though she does the same.[6]
Jin[]
As Jin was the one to destroy her body, Tsu-in despises and fears her. Jin has no strong opinions towards her.[6]
