Hihi Gokuu (悟空 狒狒 Gokuu Hihi) is a supporting character exclusive to the Nanbaka Web Manga series. He is Samon and Enki Gokuu's grandfather.
Appearance[]
Hihi is a middle-aged man with grey hair of medium length tied into a short ponytail at the back and facial hair, including a two-parted mustache and beard. His eyes do not seem to have any pupils and are outlined with red makeup. Red makeup is also shown to be across his nose, and his fingernails are painted yellow. Multiple piercings are worn on his ear.
He wears a green shirt and a white jacket with wide sleeves, sewn at the chest together with red stitches and buttons. A red sash is tied at the waist, with the shirt and jacket being worn loosely at the front and back. Black pants are also worn along with a pair of black flat shoes.
Personality[]
A stern man who believes in the Gokuu clan's traditions, Hihi goes to great lengths to uphold them. He secludes himself in the mountains and trains hard as a warrior. When other clansmen get fed up with this lifestyle and leave, Hihi doesn't understand their position. Incredibly stubborn and set in his ways, Hihi cares deeply about having the successors of the Gokuu line be suitable for the title.
He values strength, leading him to be hard on Samon for not wishing to train, even questioning him on how he could even call himself a member of the Gokuu clan. When Samon calls out the fact that many clansmen couldn't bear to live secluded in the mountains like Hihi wished (a noted sore spot for Hihi), the man commends Samon for attacking an enemy's weakness, showing that he can handle being disrespected and argued with. Enki's rare talent earns him Hihi's high praise. For all his focus on strength, Hihi also notes other traits in Enki, such as how human his heart is.
Background[]
The Gokuu clan, in particular Hihi and Samon's father, used to seclude themselves in the mountains to focus on training. This obsession led to the other clansmen getting fed up and leaving the clan. Notably, amongst the numbers leaving was Samon's mother, who took Samon to Japan in order to not have him be subjected to training.
However, Hihi went after her and took Samon from her anyway, with the intent to make him a suitable second son to the Gokuu clan. This goal is met with much resistance, as Samon did not wish to train as a martial artist. No amount of coaxing, berating, or stories of Samon's parents from Hihi's part could convince him otherwise. Eventually, Hihi introduced Samon to Enki Gokuu, the boy's older brother. Enki quickly becomes a role model for Samon, accomplishing Hihi's wish to see Samon as a great martial artist.
family. Samon, unaware that he has an older brother, asks him if he does, to which he says that Enki is training. He explains that Enki's mind, body and strength is something which cannot be compared to others, even for over a hundred years. Enki was apparently born with a power beyond a regular human's, but his heart is more human than anyone else's.[1]

- The kanji "狒" repeated twice means "baboon".
- Hihi's only appearance is during Chapter 123 of the Nanbaka Web Manga.
