A Deputy Appears!! (副看守現る！！Fuku Kanshu Genru!!) is the fifth chapter of the Nanbaka Web Manga.
Synopsis[]
Yamato is filling for Hajime as Supervisor of Building 13 as for he is sick. After Hajime returns back from his absence, he teaches Seitarou how to deal with Jyugo, Uno, Nico and Rock.
Summary[]
Rock and Jyugo have their hands locked together pushing each other back to see who will be the victor of their fight, as Nico and Uno spectate and cheer them on. Before the two can finish their battle, Yamato Godai interrupts the fight telling them that there is no brawling allowed, to which the main four respond asking who he is.
Yamato introduces himself, Nico asks where Hajime is and then Yamato informs them that he is the acting supervisor because Hajime is sick. Jyugo notes that it is quiet today and Uno comments that it isn't fun without Hajime's reactions. After Yamato realizes he has forgotten the topic, he tells the inmates to stop fighting, which Jyugo and Rock respond that they weren't fighting, but testing their strength. Then, Yamato realizes that the four inmates are the "infamous troublemakers" and the four are surprised at how Yamato didn't know about them, insulting him.
Yamato exclaims that they have made his job much easier, and that he will be happy to beat some sense into them during Hajime's absence, as he drags Jyugo, Uno, Nico, and Rock off to go train, telling them that instead of escaping, they should repent for their crimes and finish confidently and proudly and that he wants them to live happy, bright and honest lives, while they complain. While outside, he explains that men should aspire to have a sturdy physique and that they shall first begin doing a thousand pushups, while they complain but Yamato says that there will be no whining and that they shall let out a battle cry for a brighter tomorrow. Meanwhile, Hajime is laying in his bed at home and Hitoshi asks him if he wants some pieces of apple, while Hajime declines.
After a short timeskip, Hajime is back in action with Seitarou asking him for help, but Hajime tells him that it is still the beginning of the day and that he hasn't fully recovered from his sickness, while Seitarou replies that he's sorry and explains how cell 13 has been misbehaving more during his absence. Hajime explains to Seitarou how he can reduce the motivation of the four troublesome inmates: Uno likes surveys to do with women; Rock likes anything food related; Nico will not move an inch if he's watching anime; as for Jyugo, there is nothing to stop him, however if the others are preoccupied Jyugo loses motivation to escape by 40%. Days later, Seitarou explains to Hajime during his break that the four have stopped bullying him since he gave them whatever they wanted, while Hajime realizes that he is being used as an errand boy.
